There are several yaki mochi shops on Mt. Koya, but this is Hanasaka's most well known. The shop is right next to another, Kake Shoten, and the two stores even have a bike rack for those who stop by while they are cycling. If you decide to eat inside Kake Shoten, you will also be treated to their renowned Bancha tea, and if you would like, you can even take a look inside. This is the perfect place for souvenirs! You will absolutely fall in love with the gentle flavors of Yatate Chaya's secret recipe.

The current Daimon, the looming main gate that acts as the entrance to Mt. Koya, was rebuilt in 1705. The famous statues of the Kongo-Rikishi gods are enshrined on both sides. This large gate presents itself in different ways, depending on the season, weather, and time of your visit.

When coming to Mt. Koya, you will naturally want to try local cuisine for lunch, and when you think of the cuisine, you think of shojin ryori. Although there are many restaurants that offer shojin ryori, this is the only one that offer it in such an authentic manner. Each course is painstakingly created using seasonal mountain vegetables growing naturally in the vast mountain range. The famous restaurant starkly preserves the tradition of "five ways, five flavors, five colors." Irregular holidays
