Located at the entrance of Mount Kōya, Niutsuhime Shrine was once a must before people paid their respects at Mount Kōya. The first thing to draw the eye is the Wheel Bridge, which is said to be the bridge that Yodo proffered up in order for the gods to cross. The tower gate seen from the top of the Wheel Bridge is also a great place to take photos. Also, there are golden dog fortunes sold only during the Year of the Dog - surely a sign of good luck!
